Prepare for laser hair removal with an individual plan

Start preparation at the consultation, before you follow a timetable found online. Tell the clinician about your medicines, skin history and recent sun exposure. Ask for written instructions for shaving, skincare and aftercare that fit the device, body area and assessment.

Gather what the clinician needs to know

The AAD recommends disclosing recent tanning, medicines and relevant skin history before laser hair removal. Bring a current medication list and describe previous hair-removal treatment or reactions. Do not stop a prescribed medicine because a website says to; ask the prescribing clinician and treating provider what to do. Read the AAD preparation guidance.

Ask for the hair-removal instructions in writing

Ask whether to shave the area, when to do it, and how to handle waxing, plucking or an irritated patch of skin before the visit. Write the dates the provider gives you. A generic “two weeks before” heading cannot account for your treatment history or the clinic’s protocol.

Discuss sun exposure before choosing a date

Explain any recent tan, outdoor work or travel plans. Ask whether treatment should be delayed and how to protect the area before and after the visit. The AAD’s preparation guidance advises against tanning and sunless tanners and recommends sunscreen. Your clinician should tell you how this affects your appointment.

Confirm what to bring and what to leave off

Ask about clothing, makeup, deodorant, lotions and other products on the treatment area. Confirm whether the visit includes a consultation, treatment or both, and whether the provider wants you to arrive early. For Garden City visits arranged through GlowMatch, get the exact address before planning travel.

Get an aftercare contact before leaving

Ask which short-term changes are expected, which symptoms need assessment, and whom to contact after hours. Record the product plan and activity restrictions the provider gives you. Use the aftercare worksheet to keep those instructions together; it does not replace them.

Confirm the offer separately from the clinical plan

Review published laser prices and ask about package terms, deposits and additional visits. Read the session-planning guide before treating six sessions as a fixed endpoint. Use the appointment request form to share your area and preferred time. The team confirms the visit separately.
